CLE Ethics Seminar: Conscience and Ethics in the Life of a Lawyer

  • 29 Mar 2001
  • 8:00 AM - 4:45 PM
  • Haggar Student Center, University of Dallas

The Society, in conjunction with the Institute for Religious and Pastoral Studies and the Center for Thomas More Studies, both of University of Dallas, offered this joint seminar for Catholic lawyers.

For the Catholic lawyer, a well-formed conscience is the basis for leading an ethical personal and professional life.  Using Catholic Church teachings, the Texas Code of Legal Ethics, and practical experience, this seminar (1) identified the issues that cause crises of conscience for attorneys and their clients; (2) demonstrated how conscience and the practice of law can work together hin harmony; (3) explored human dignity and conscience as the principles underlying the ethical practice of law; and (4) provided a context for Catholic lawyers to consider their role as conscience for their clients.

The State Bar of Texas approved 5.0 hours of Continuing Legal Education Credit for this seminar, including 3.0 hours of ethics credit.
