  • The Belo Mansion

This was a series of four breakfast meetings, led by Dr. Gerald Wegemer.  The $35 fee included a light breakfast at each meeting and a copy of More's Dialogue of Comfort.

The meetings were held on September 17 and 24 and October 1 and 8.  The $35 fee covered a light breakfast and a copy of the book.

Comfort (cum forte, "with courage")  is the subject of Thomas More's last completed work, and some say, his best.  Written in the Tower one year before his execution, this work brings together the major issues and most important themes of More's life.

The Dialogue is a conversation between old wise Anthony and his young, rich, and terrified nephew who faces responsibilities which will determine the fate of his family and country.  The task of Anthony is to teach his nephew how to acquire genuine virtue in a very short time.

In understanding both More's practical ability to deal with people and his deepest spiritual concerns, few works reveal as much as Dialogue.  This work should be of special interest to parents, grandparents, statesmen, and other diplomats and educators.
